North West Stakeholders Laud FEICOM Achievements At 50th Anniversary Celebration

Celebrating half a century of dedicated service, the North West Agency of the Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, has been lauded for its impactful contributions and faced with suggestions for improvement.
    FEICOM Immortalizes 50th Anniversary with stakeholders.

The 50th-anniversary festivities were a testament to the agency's commitment to enhancing services nationwide.
   Established by Presidential Decree number 74/23 on December 5, 1974, FEICOM's core mission centres on financing social and urban development projects, thereby fostering council solidarity initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty. Under the theme "FEICOM,
   A Tool for Building National Solidarity," speakers underscored the agency's pivotal role in improving the lives of North West residents.

Denis Awoh Ndang, Mayor of Fundong and President of the United Councils and Cities of Cameroon (UCCC) North West, hailed FEICOM as a vital lifeline for local governance. Reflecting on the agency's accomplishments, Ilome Augustine Kombe, Head of the North West Agency, applauded the successful execution of 462 projects totalling 36.32 billion Francs in the past 14 years.
   Additionally, FEICOM has disbursed 100.59 billion Francs in additional council taxes to local authorities during the same period.
   Notable projects, including the construction of council buildings, bridges, and water
infrastructure has garnered praise from attending mayors and guests.
   In a thoughtful reflection on FEICOM's impact, Mayor Awoh Ndang Denis highlighted the agency's role in realizing projects beyond the scope of the Public Investment Budget.
   However, he raised concerns over bureaucratic delays in file processing and urged for a decentralized approach to project selection and monitoring.
   Addressing financial challenges, Mayor Awoh Ndang and other stakeholders proposed enhanced support from FEICOM in feasibility studies, project selection, and timely disbursement of funds. Notably, discussions centred on the need for streamlined processes to facilitate project financing and optimize resource allocation.
