Bamenda, May 8, 2025 - Journalist Fred Vubem has regained his freedom after being held captive by his abductors for four days. Vubem, a journalist with the regional service of Cameroon Tribune, was received at the Bamenda Regional Hospital at approximately 10 pm on Wednesday May 7, 2025.

Vubem was abducted by armed men at Mile 11 in Bambui, Tubah Subdivision, on Sunday, May 4, 2025, as he was returning from his native village, Kedjom Keku. The abduction occurred one day after the global celebration of World Press Freedom Day on May 3, 2025.
