A tragic incident has claimed the life of Colonel Zambo Nguema Etienne Célestin, commander of the North West Gendarmerie Legion. The accident occurred opposite Hill Park Hotel along the New Road stretch when a truck with brake failure crashed into his vehicle.
Colonel Zambo Nguema died at the scene, while his driver miraculously survived the crash. A seasoned military officer, Colonel Zambo Nguema had taken command of the North West Gendarmerie Legion in March 2024, replacing Colonel Boum Bissou Raymond.
With impressive credentials, including graduation from the Combined Services Military Academy and a brevet from the Paris War College, Colonel Zambo Nguema was a respected leader. His untimely demise has left the North-West Gendarmerie Legion and the community in mourning.
