The newly appointed Divisional Officer (DO) for Muyuka Subdivision, Ngatchou Nzouami Sylvian, officially took office on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in a ceremony presided over by Fako Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) Engelbert Viang Mekala.

Installed at the Muyuka grandstand before local authorities, traditional leaders, and residents, the new DO was handed a clear mandate: to restore peace, combat insecurity, and facilitate community development in a subdivision still grappling with the effects of the ongoing sociopolitical crisis in the region.

In his keynote address, SDO Viang Mekala outlined the core responsibilities awaiting the incoming administrator. These include the fight against ghost towns, drug trafficking and consumption, illegal fuel sales, urban and rural criminality, ensuring effective school resumption, sanitation, and the peaceful resolution of land disputes.

“The Divisional Officer must coordinate, supervise, and control decentralized state services. He must uphold law and order and ensure the full execution of government decisions,” Mekala stated.

With presidential elections scheduled for October 12, 2025, the SDO also directed the new DO to facilitate the distribution of voter cards to all registered citizens, ensuring full participation in the democratic process.

Addressing the local population, the SDO appealed for cooperation with the new administrator, describing him as a representative of the Head of State deployed to serve the community.
