Speaking during the Bafut distribution, the Mayor of Bafut Council, Ngwakongoh Lawrence, described the initiative as timely and deeply meaningful.

“This is a season when many people were wondering how they would celebrate Christmas, especially IDPs and vulnerable families,” the mayor said. “God has used the Honorable Member of Parliament to bring relief. Seeing my people happy makes me happy. This rice means that a child will have a plate of food on Christmas Day.”

The mayor highlighted the effects of insecurity on farming activities, noting that many farmers have abandoned their farms, worsening food insecurity. He prayed for divine blessings upon the MP, calling for such gestures to continue.

Beneficiaries Speak on Hardship and Hope

For many beneficiaries, the distribution brought immediate relief and renewed hope. Brenda Ichu, a beneficiary from Bafut, said food scarcity and high market prices had made survival difficult.

“Things are very expensive in the market, and feeding has not been easy because of the crisis and bad farm-to-market roads,” she explained. “This rice will go a long way in helping families like mine.”
Another beneficiary, described Hon. Agho Oliver as a “dynamic parliamentarian” who understands the suffering of his people. “We are hungry because of the crisis, and he has felt our pain,” she said, pledging continued support for the MP.
