The Senior Divisional Officer for Boyo, Menyong Gilbert Sunday, has been distinguished with the Administrator of the Year award at the 10th Anniversary of the Cameroon Media Award of Excellence, hosted by the Cameroon Climate Journalism Network (CCJN) as part of activities marking World Soil Day on Friday, December 5, 2025.
The event, held at the North West Regional Delegation of Public Works, celebrated leaders and institutions demonstrating outstanding commitment to peace, environmental stewardship, national security, and sustainable development.
In an interview granted to Laarry Times after receiving the distinction, the disciplined, no-nonsense and hardworking Boyo SDO described the honour as both humbling and motivating.
“I am so overwhelmed by this recognition, which comes as a visual symphony and a mirrored reflection of hard work and dedication,” he told Laarry Tines. “Be assured, it is a moral booster to be more committed to service. We will continue to do our best in saving humanity.”
The Boyo administrator used the occasion to address the population as the festive season approaches, calling for vigilance during a period typically marked by heightened social activity.
“I want to continue to call on the population, especially during this end-of-year festive period… to remain vigilant in order not to fall into temptation or any trap set by the enemy,” he cautioned. “As for us, we will continue to do our work with dedication and professionalism, ensuring that our people celebrate in tranquillity and peace without any hitches.”
Menyong also praised CCJN’s environmental advocacy work, applauding the network’s collaborative efforts to protect Cameroon’s natural resources.
“I seize this opportunity to salute the efforts of the authorities of the Cameroon Climate Journalism Network for their tireless commitment to protecting our natural environment, and for recognizing hard work and dedication,” he added.
The CCJN – WSD World Soil Day 10th Anniversary Award recognizes individuals and institutions contributing to environmental awareness, sustainable land management, and community resilience.
