The ICT scholar recalled travelling to Bamenda three years ago to visit his grandmother and receive her blessings, a moment he now considers especially meaningful. He characterized her as a spiritual pillar in his life, referring to her as his “spiritual guard, guide, and giant.”

According to Prof. Mbarika, Mama Esther lived by strong religious conviction, placing complete trust in God for her health and daily strength. He noted that for nearly 50 years, she did not rely on medication, choosing instead to depend on prayer and faith. “She walked by faith, not by sight,” he said in a written reflection shared with family and associates.

The funeral ceremonies reflected both solemn remembrance and gratitude for a life many described as devoted to faith, family, and spiritual discipline. To him, Mama Esther is remembered by her children, grandchildren, and extended relatives as a matriarch whose influence will continue to resonate across generations.
