Hon. Senator Enwe Francis Abi, a senator for the North West region, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Nation Builders in the Gold Category by Lifetime Media Group, in recognition of his commitment to peacebuilding and development in Cameroon’s conflict-affected regions.
The honour was conferred during the 17th edition of the awards ceremony held at the Bamenda I Council Hall on Saturday, March 28, 2026. The distinction, endorsed by Jeff Ngawe, president of the jury, and Tim Finnian, CEO of Lifetime Media Group, celebrates individuals whose work has significantly contributed to national unity and grassroots transformation.
Championing Peace in Difficult Times
The award recognizes Senator Enwe’s consistent role in promoting peace and reconciliation, particularly in Bamenda, Widikum Subdivision, and across Momo Division in the North West, and South West regions deeply impacted by ongoing socio-political tensions.
Over the years, he has spearheaded community dialogue initiatives, urging divided groups to embrace forgiveness and coexistence. His advocacy has also encouraged some members of armed groups to surrender their weapons and reintegrate into civilian life.
Shortly after receiving the award, the senator described the recognition as both humbling and motivating. According to the lawmaker, the recognition simply comes to reignite and rejuvenate his love for peace and development. “I am very honoured to be spotlighted yet again for another recognition. This award is dedicated to my God and to my community,” he said. “To me, standing for peace and development is a way of life.”
A Collective Achievement
While acknowledging the honour, Senator Enwe emphasized that the award belongs to a broader community of peace actors. “I dedicate it to all the boys who yielded to the call of the head of state and accepted to lay down their arms,” he stated.
He extended the dedication to peace-loving citizens across Widikum, Momo Division, and the wider North West and South West regions, stressing that lasting peace requires shared commitment. “All who took part in the peace process initiatives are not left behind. It is our award.”
Investing in Youth and Development
Beyond peace advocacy, Senator Enwe Francis has also focused on rebuilding livelihoods. His initiatives include youth empowerment programs and support for local economic activities aimed at restoring stability in affected communities. Among his notable contributions is the donation of 45 motorcycles to young people in Widikum, providing them with opportunities for income generation and mobility.
Last year, he was also recognized as a peace ambassador and role model for youths in the Northwest Region, further highlighting his influence in guiding young people away from violence.
Recognition Amid Recovery
The Lifetime Achievement Award underscores growing recognition of efforts to restore peace and normalcy in Momo Division. Political and civic advocates view the distinction not only as a personal milestone for Senator Enwe but also as evidence of the impact of sustained peace initiatives in the region.
Despite the accolade, the senator remains focused on the work, results, and transformation ahead. “This recognition encourages me to continue. I cannot sit and watch my people suffer,” he said.
The Road Ahead
As communities in Cameroon’s North West and South West regions continue their recovery, Senator Enwe Francis Abi’s message remains clear that peace must be preserved, and development must follow. For him, the journey toward stability is ongoing, and the award serves as both recognition and responsibility to keep pushing for lasting change.
