Cameroonian Filmmaker Kang Quintus Arrested in France Over Cybercrime Allegations

   Kang Quintus, Cameroonain Filmmaker.

A Cameroonian filmmaker and producer, Kang Quintus, has reportedly been arrested in France as part of an international cybercrime investigation involving Interpol and the United States Department of Justice.

Authorities allege that Kang Quintus, a native of Wum in Menchum Division known for his work in films such as The Fisherman’s Diary, produced in 2020, was involved in a network of financial crimes, including identity theft, electronic fraud, and tax-related scams. Officials say the case has drawn the attention of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which is supporting efforts to extradite him to the United States.

Arrest and investigation

According to reports, the 38-year-old Kang Quintus was detained on April 30, 2026, in France following a warrant linked to alleged fraudulent activities tied to his business operations in the United States. Investigators claim his company, Kang Solutions LLC, based in Hyattsville, Maryland, had previously been flagged by state authorities over suspicious tax filings. The Maryland Comptroller is said to have placed the firm under restrictions after identifying irregularities in submitted returns. Allegations also include concerns over identity theft and improper tax preparation practices.

A 2020 report by U.S. broadcaster WUSA9 cited observations of questionable working conditions at the company’s premises, though Quintus reportedly denied wrongdoing at the time and declined further media access.

Public claims and online reaction

The case gained renewed attention after allegations were shared online by commentator Jude Liljaw, who cited complaints from individuals claiming financial losses linked to Quintus’s business activities. These claims have not been independently verified by the BBC.

In recent days, Quintus’s social media accounts have fallen silent, prompting speculation among followers. He had recently been sharing updates from Europe, where he was believed to be traveling prior to his arrest.

Career and projects

Before the allegations emerged, Quintus had established himself as a prominent figure in Cameroon’s film industry. He is credited with acting and production roles in several films, including Rejected (2015) and Retaliation (2015), and serves as CEO of Kang Quintus Entertainment Ltd.

He had also launched a hospitality venture in Cameroon known as “Lions Gate” and was reportedly preparing for the release of a new project titled Mabanda.

Legal outlook

U.S. authorities are now pursuing extradition proceedings. If convicted in a federal court, Quintus could face a significant prison sentence. However, legal experts note that extradition cases can take time and depend on judicial review in multiple jurisdictions. At this stage, the allegations remain unproven in court, and Quintus has not publicly responded to the latest developments.

This is a developing story. Further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
