The unveiling of the new headquarters of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) in Yaoundé has drawn some of the biggest names in African football, in a ceremony that supporters described as a defining moment for the future of the game in Cameroon.
PM Dion Ngute Inaugurating the New Building.Government officials, football legends, federation executives and supporters gathered in the Warda neighbourhood on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, as the federation officially opened its new administrative complex under the leadership of Samuel Eto'o.
Pictures of Former Cameronian Stars Immortalised.At the entrance of the building, murals celebrating generations of Cameroonian football icons welcomed guests, with legendary goalkeepers Thomas N'Kono, Joseph-Antoine Bell, Jacques Songo'o and Carlos Kameni among the faces featured.
The event attracted several major figures from across African football, including Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football, alongside former stars Jay-Jay Okocha and El Hadji Diouf.

Samuel Eto'o Fils, FECAFOOT President, Addressing Audience During Inauguration.One of the ceremony’s most emotional moments came when Eto’o paid tribute to former FECAFOOT president Iya Mohamed, saying the project had originally begun under his administration years earlier. “He saw much further than his time,” Eto’o told guests. “He understood what the history of our football needed: an administration worthy of the Lions’ performances.”
Dignitaries Immortalize Event.The FECAFOOT president then invited the audience to rise in applause for the former federation boss. He also announced that Cameroonian football legend Roger Milla would become president of the FECAFOOT Foundation, which will operate from offices inside the new building.
Samuel Eto'o Designating Roger Mills.Addressing Roger Milla directly, Samuel Eto’o described him as both an idol and a father figure who inspired generations of footballers across the continent.
The ceremony was attended by members of Cameroon’s football community, including Indomitable Lions coach David Pagou, while Eto’o’s mother, Mama Christine, was also present for the inauguration.
Jay Jay Ochocha and Diouf.Samuel Eto’o used the occasion to publicly thank Nigerian businessman Tony Elumelu for supporting the construction project through the United Bank for Africa. The former striker revealed he travelled to Lagos seeking financial backing for the headquarters project and credited Elumelu with helping turn the plan into reality.

For many attendees, the opening of the new headquarters officially presided over by Prime Minister and head of government, Joseph Dion Ngute represented more than infrastructure. It was seen as a statement of ambition from one of Africa’s most historic football nations.
