The Regional Delegate of Cameroon’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Crafts (CCIMA) for the North West has praised journalists for their resilience and commitment to ethical reporting as the world observes World Press Freedom Day.

In a statement released in Bamenda on Sunday, May 3, 2026, Edison Fru Ndi, who doubles as the CEO of Dreamland Connect, commended media professionals for their role in informing the public and strengthening accountability within society.

He described journalism as a demanding profession that requires courage, discipline, and integrity, particularly in a region where reporters often work in difficult conditions.

“Your role becomes even more significant. You stand as beacons of information and hope, often working under difficult conditions to ensure that the truth is told,” he said.

Edison Fru Ndi said the media remains essential to democratic life, noting that journalists help to amplify public concerns and ensure that institutions remain transparent and responsive.

He praised the dedication of reporters across the Northwest Region, saying their work contributes to peacebuilding, social cohesion, and development. “Your professionalism, persistence, and dedication to ethical journalism do not go unnoticed,” he added.

He also encouraged journalists to maintain high professional standards and continue prioritizing truth and responsibility in their reporting.

It is worth noting that World Press Freedom Day, marked annually on 3 May, highlights the importance of press freedom and draws attention to the challenges faced by journalists around the world.
