A teacher linked to CCC Mankon Administration has been arrested in connection with the alleged leakage of French and Literature examination papers during the ongoing GCE examinations,
In a viral social media audio purportedly sent to GCE Education authorities confirmed that the suspect, identified as Tse Clearence, a former Discipline Master who had recently been assigned duties described as “assistant gatekeeper pending contract termination,” was arrested on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
His arrest follows an involvement by the Mobile Intervention Police Unit, commonly known in its French acronym as GMI, in the Fishpond Hill neighbourhood in Bamenda II Subdivision. He is expected to be transferred to the Judicial Police for further investigation.
Allegations of exam malpractice
According to a recorded statement attributed to a school board member at CCC Mankon, Tse Clearence is accused of circulating examination content during the writing of French O/Level paper 1 and Literature papers.
Front View of CCC Mankon. In the audio transcript, the board member alleges that superintendents discovered a student in possession of materials believed to match exam content. The statement further claims that during the ongoing examination session, the teacher entered the hall and dropped what appeared to be an answer sheet in front of a candidate. The allegations have not yet been independently verified by authorities.
Escape attempt and arrest
The same account describes how Clearence was taken in for questioning by exam supervisors and the principal. He reportedly claimed that he had received the leaked questions through a WhatsApp group allegedly containing hundreds of members.
According to the board member’s statement, the situation escalated when the suspect was temporarily left in the principal’s office. He is said to have taken his confiscated mobile phone, kept in the office drawer, and fled the premises while staff attempted to alert security.
Clearance Being Ushered in Inside the Van by Security Forces.Witnesses say he managed to exit the examination centre briefly, prompting a pursuit by staff and students. However, he was intercepted near Fishpond Hill by officers from the GMI, who were reportedly arriving at the scene at the time. He was then taken into custody.
Digital evidence allegedly destroyed
Authorities further allege that the suspect destroyed a mobile phone in his possession before arrest, in an apparent attempt to prevent investigators from accessing its contents. The device is now reportedly in police custody for forensic assessment.
School sources say the phone may contain communications relevant to the investigation, including alleged group chats linked to the circulation of exam material.
Official response awaited
The Cameroon GCE Board has not yet issued a formal public statement on the incident. However, sources within the examination system indicate that a case file has been opened, including handwritten answer sheets allegedly linked to the suspect. Tse Clearence remains in custody and is expected to be transferred to the Judicial Police in Bamenda for further questioning and possible charges.
Broader concerns
The incident has renewed concerns about examination integrity in Cameroon’s secondary education system, particularly during high-stakes national exams, where malpractice allegations have surfaced in previous years and even recently, which triggered authorities to suspend the examination for some time.
For now, the investigation continues, and the allegations remain subject to judicial scrutiny.
