Fifteen days after the discovery of a man's remains inside a burned vehicle in Mile 6 Nkwen in the Bamenda III Subdivision, relatives have identified the victim as Aleh Sylvester, a fridge technician resident in Mile 3 in Nkwen. Married to a second wife after the first, with their only kid left, Aleh Sylvester, popularly called Pa Fridge, was a native of Awing Village in Santa Subdivision.
It is alleged that the vehicle he was purportedly burned inside did not belong to him. He reportedly borrowed the vehicle from a friend, who only discovered weeks after that the vehicle burnt alongside an unidentified individual was his.
Further information indicated that before his demise, he was seen shouting and running around like he was being controlled or chased by an unseen force. Someone who knew him told Laarry Times that he had even lent money to the deceased to attend a crusade in Douala organized by a Nigerian senior pastor at Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja.
“The truth is, this man was going through a serious health challenge—one that many of us could not fully understand. To the ordinary eye, he did not appear sick or weak. However, there was a strange condition that would suddenly force his head to tilt uncontrollably from one side to the other, then return to normal, only for it to happen again. This unusual situation raised many questions. It was not something that could easily be explained or diagnosed. In search of healing, he tried everything within his reach. He went to hospitals, sought spiritual help in churches, and even traveled as far as Nigeria to see Prophet T.B. Joshua. In the process, he sold his house just to finance his treatment, yet there was still no solution. Sadly, despite all these efforts, his condition remained unresolved. In the end, the circumstances surrounding his death were deeply troubling, leading many to believe that unseen forces or individuals may have been after his life. It is a painful reminder that not all struggles are visible, and not every battle can be easily understood”, the individual recounted.
Aleh Sylvester, What Was Really his Crime to Undergo Such an Inhumane Torture? The case drew widespread attention earlier this month when authorities recovered the remains from a vehicle found destroyed by fire. Initial reports indicated that the victim had been found restrained before being burnt in the driver's seat, making identification difficult and prompting investigators to appeal to the public for assistance.
The discovery was made after residents reported seeing signs of a fire in the area. An army rescue team, led by Senior Warrant Officer Taku Paul, head of the army rescue unit in Bamenda, and officials from the Bamenda City Council later secured the scene and removed the remains for further examination.
Carcass of the Vehicle Reportedly Not Belonging to the Victim. For more than two weeks, the victim's identity remained unknown as investigators worked to establish his identity and notify relatives. Family sources have now confirmed that the deceased was Aleh Sylvester, bringing a significant development to the ongoing investigation.
Despite the identification, authorities have yet to disclose the circumstances that led to his death or announce any arrests in connection with the case. Security services continue to investigate, while residents and relatives await answers.
