The Bishop of Buea Diocese, His Lordship Michael Miabesue Bibi, has accepted an apology from Rev. Fr. George Jingwa Nkeze following a reconciliation process between the two clergymen.
In a communiqué issued on August 4, 2026, Bishop Bibi said he had received and accepted Fr. Nkeze’s letter of apology, in which the priest acknowledged failing to fully comply with directives issued by his Bishop and expressed his commitment to respecting the authority and guidance of the Diocese.
The Bishop said, after careful reflection, he had forgiven the priest and would begin the necessary diocesan procedures to facilitate the issuance of a Letter of Suitability, a step that would allow Fr. Nkeze to continue his priestly ministry.
"I have accepted your apology and forgiven you for failing to follow the directives established for the good of the Diocese," Bishop Bibi said in his response to the priest’s letter.
He urged Fr. Nkeze to remain committed to prayer, obedience, and service to the Church, reminding him of the importance of respecting his priestly vows and responsibilities.
The reconciliation follows an earlier communiqué from the Bishop announcing a process aimed at restoring unity between Fr. Nkeze and the wider diocesan family.
Bishop Bibi had promised to communicate his response after receiving the priest’s apology letter.
The Bishop's reply was sent on August 1, 2026, according to the Diocese of Buea.
The Diocese said the reconciliation process reflects efforts to strengthen communion within the Church and promote understanding among its members.
