The CPDM Mezam III Section Bali has stepped up preparations for the forthcoming municipal and legislative elections, with party officials saying they are determined to secure a landslide victory.
Speaking during a section-level party seminar at the Bali Council Hall on Friday, August 28, 2026, CPDM Mezam III Section President Wandum Ernest Bunga, who is also Mayor of Bali Council, said the party was putting into practice lessons drawn from seminars held at regional and divisional levels.

Voter registration remains a priority
The CPDM Section President acknowledged that the party still has work to do in getting eligible voters onto the electoral register. He said CPDM officials were working with ELECAM to reach people who had not yet registered, including through registration exercises in areas where potential voters are gathered.
“Getting people registered is not an easy thing,” Wandum Ernest said, noting that many people do not take the initiative to register without being persuaded about the importance of voting.
He said the party would intensify its mobilization efforts in the remaining days to ensure that as many eligible voters as possible are registered.
Candidate selection
The seminar also focused on the criteria the CPDM established for prospective candidates. Wandum Ernest said the Mezam III Section has several capable militants who could contest both council and parliamentary positions. However, the party would still need to carefully assess and fine-tune potential candidates.
“CPDM is a worthy party. CPDM is a great party,” he said. “At any moment, we have worthy candidates. We are going to have a problem of choice.”
He stressed, however, that candidates must satisfy the party's requirements before being considered for nomination. Among the qualities highlighted during the seminar were popularity, commitment to party ideals, integrity, competence, availability, accessibility, and accountability.
Training grassroots structures
He explained that the section seminar was the final stage of a training process that began with a regional seminar in Bamenda, followed by a divisional seminar.
The sessions, he said, were organized following a circular from the Secretary-General of the CPDM Central Committee and are being held across the Northwest Region and the country.
The objective is to equip party officials with the knowledge and strategies needed ahead of the twin elections. Participants at the Bali session included subsection presidents and other party officials, who are expected to take the lessons back to their respective cells and branches.
“We did not invite all the militants of the party. We invited only party officials,” Wandum Ernest explained. “After this seminar, subsection presidents will go to their various subsections and educate their militants because they are the key actors in the elections.”
CPDM victory tied to Bali's development
Member of Parliament for the Bamenda/Bali Constituency, Hon. Fru Nestus Manjo, who presented a paper on the need for a CPDM landslide in Mezam III Bali, said the party's electoral success was closely linked to its development ambitions for the area.
He cited what he described as the gains from recent political developments in Bali, including the CPDM's control of the council following the last elections.

Hon. Fru Nestus urged militants to remain aligned with the party and contribute to what he described as President Paul Biya's vision for the country. He said Bali should position itself as a development and industrial hub for the region.
Youth wing expresses confidence
YCPDM Section President Engr. Billa Vitalis Fokwang said young militants were equally prepared for the elections. He said the emphasis on integrity and accountability in candidate selection gave the youth confidence that credible candidates could emerge from Mezam III Bali.
Fokwang also stressed that young militants should put the party's interests ahead of individual ambitions. “We are not working as individual candidates for our own personal interest, but for the interest of the party,” he said.
With the training completed, the Section President said the focus would now shift to grassroots mobilization, voter registration, and ensuring that potential candidates meet all the conditions required by the party.
For the CPDM Mezam III Bali, the message from the seminar was that the preparation must translate into organization at the grassroots and, ultimately, electoral victory.
