The CPDM in Momo Division has stepped up preparations for the upcoming municipal and legislative elections, with party officials urging militants to register massively and mobilize voters for what they describe as a decisive victory.
The call was made on Saturday, August 22, 2026, during a training and re-strategizing seminar held at the Conference Hall of the State-owned Ayaba Hotel in Bamenda.
The seminar was led by Justice Mbah Acha Rose Fomundam, Head of the CPDM Central Committee Permanent Divisional Delegation for Momo Division and Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Supreme State Audit.
According to her, the meeting was part of a nationwide program launched in July 2026 to prepare party militants for the elections. The exercise has moved from the national to the regional and divisional levels and will subsequently be taken to the subsections, sections, branches, and cells.
“The take-home message is that we have to win the municipal and legislative elections,” Mbah Acha said, stressing the importance of voter registration.
She urged militants to register in large numbers, noting that without registration, they would not be able to vote and the party would struggle to achieve its electoral objective.
The seminar also focused on the profile of prospective candidates. Minister Mbah Acha Rose said the party needs dynamic, committed, and capable candidates who can effectively represent the CPDM and deliver on its objectives.
For Hon. Ujambeng Stephen, CPDM Section President for Momo West Ngie, the seminar provided militants with practical strategies for peaceful mobilization, particularly in communities still affected by the consequences of conflict.
He said militants had been encouraged to engage disgruntled party members, promote appeasement, and intensify voter registration from the grassroots level.
Widikum Council Mayor Andoh Stanialaus expressed confidence in the party's prospects, recalling what he described as a longstanding social contract between Widikum and the CPDM dating back to 1992.
He said the focus was no longer whether the party would win, but by what margin. “We don't know if it is going to be 80%, 90%, or 100%,” he said, while pledging to mobilize residents to maintain what he described as Widikum's longstanding support for the CPDM.
The Momo seminar is expected to be followed by similar sessions at the lower party structures as the CPDM intensifies its grassroots mobilization ahead of the municipal and legislative elections.
