Cameroonian peacebuilder and women’s rights advocate Sarah-Derval, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hope of Africa (HOFA), has received two separate awards recognizing her work in peacebuilding, gender equality, human rights, and community service.
The first recognition came from the United Council for Youth Empowerment (UCYE) International and the Cameroon Diaspora Youth Network (CDYN-USA).
Sarah-Derval received the Cameroon Diaspora Global Award 2026 in the Defenders and Advocacy category and was also designated Cameroon Youth Gender and Human Rights Ambassador (CYGHRA).
The recognition was conferred in Washington, D.C., in honour of her leadership in peacebuilding, advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality, and commitment to inclusive peace, social justice, and sustainable development.
As the founder of HOFA and former General Coordinator of the Southwest-Northwest Women Taskforce (SNWOT), Ephosi has worked to strengthen the participation of women and young people in peacebuilding, community resilience, and decision-making.
Her work has also focused on advancing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, with particular emphasis on ensuring that women have meaningful roles as peacebuilders, negotiators, leaders, and decision-makers.
The organizers also recognized her efforts to promote women’s economic and political empowerment, civic participation, conflict prevention, and sustainable development.
A second honour followed on August 27, 2026, when Sarah-Derval received the Victory Community Impact Award from a separate organization.
The award recognized her “significant contributions to the community through service,” adding another distinction to her growing record of community and humanitarian engagement. The two awards were presented on separate occasions by two different organizations and recognize distinct aspects of Ephosi’s work.
The Cameroon Diaspora Global Award and her CYGHRA designation highlight her leadership in gender equality, human rights, peacebuilding, and advocacy, while the Victory Community Impact Award focuses on her contribution to community service and social impact.
Together, the recognitions underscore Sarah-Derval’s continued work with women, young people, and communities, particularly in promoting inclusion, dignity, peaceful coexistence, and greater participation in social and development processes.
