Mezam SDO Condemns Nkwen Attack, Orders Crackdown

The Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, Simon Emile Mooh, has condemned the killing of three civilians and the wounding of four others in Nkwen, Bamenda III Subdivision.

The attack occurred at about 3 p.m. on Monday, September 14, when a group of armed men stormed a drinking spot in the Back PMI neighbourhood of Bayelle/Nkwen.

The victims were identified as Bana Emile, 27, Verla Fabrice, 23, and Bomnuy Albertine, 20. Their remains were deposited at the Bamenda Regional Hospital mortuary.

According to the SDO, four others, Sanyuy Betmua, 31, Foven Paul, 38, Lukong Dilan, 28, and Adamu, 39, were injured. They received initial treatment at the PMI Nkwen health facility before being transferred to the Bamenda Regional Hospital for further care.

In a statement issued Tuesday, September 14, 2026, Simon Emile Mooh, on behalf of the President of the Republic, extended condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

He strongly condemned what he described as repeated attacks against civilians and said the competent authorities had been instructed to identify and bring the perpetrators before the courts.

The SDO also called on residents to work with administrative authorities and defense and security forces to help prevent further violence and protect social cohesion in Mezam during the ongoing back-to-school period.
