The minister, who doubles as the CPDM Permanent Division Delegation Head for Momo, also called for greater use of sports as a tool for peace and reconciliation in the Division.
According to her, the massive turnout at the finals of the Momo for Peace and Unity Super Sports Competition (MOPUSC) showed how badly communities need opportunities to come together

Minister Mbah Acha Rose said the six-week competition had brought together people who might otherwise have remained divided. “Sports unite more than anything,” she said, noting that football, handball, and other sporting activities had created an opportunity for people to interact, rebuild relationships, and share moments of happiness.
According to her, the tournament demonstrated that dialogue and peaceful coexistence can achieve what violence cannot.

She urged those still carrying arms in the bushes to heed the Head of State’s call to drop their weapons and return to civilian life, while appealing for schools to be allowed to function normally.
Mbah Acha also called on parents to send their children to school, stressing that prolonged disruption to education would have lasting consequences for young people and the wider community.
The Different Trophies
The minister further condemned the killing of women, describing the growing cases of femicide as unacceptable. “Women have a right to live, just like you have your own right to live,” she said, calling on men responsible for such killings to stop.
The second edition of MOPUSC, organized under her patronage, began with divisional activities in Mbengwi on July 12, 2026, before competitions opened across Mbengwi, Batibo, Widikum, Ngie, and Njikwa. Athletes competed in football, handball, marathon, and swimming, involving both men and women.

Senator Enwe Francis Abi, North West Senator
For Senator Enwe Francis Abi, the event offered more than entertainment. He said the large turnout and interaction among communities showed that peace was gradually returning to Momo and argued that without peace, development in the division would remain difficult.
Ubangoh Helly, Mayor of Andek Council
The mayors of Andek and Batibo councils also linked the tournament to the resumption of schools. Andek Mayor Ubangoh Helly Manyelle called for stronger security around schools and urged parents and young people to reject involvement with armed groups. He said sporting activities could help redirect youths away from negative influences.
Acha Kennedy Ngu, Mayor of Batibo Council
Batibo Mayor Acha Kennedy Ngu described the competition as highly unifying, saying young people from different subdivisions had competed together and formed new bonds. He added that communities in Batibo had already mobilized to clean and prepare schools ahead of reopening.
The technical organizing committee said MOPUSC had also promoted discipline, teamwork, leadership, and talent development while reducing idleness among young people. It called for improved sporting infrastructure, better drainage, and stronger maintenance of playing grounds ahead of future editions.
For Mbah Acha Rose Fomundam, however, the tournament’s biggest prize was not the trophies or cash awards, but the opportunity to rebuild trust and strengthen peaceful coexistence in Momo.
The message from the closing ceremony was clear, which is to use sports to bring communities together, promote lasting peace, function schools, and respect women’s right to life.
