Municipal Updates, one of Cameroon’s widely read daily newspapers, will celebrate its 10th anniversary on October 10, 2026, with a ceremony at the National Episcopal Conference in Yaounde.
The anniversary will not only mark a decade of publishing but also serve as a platform for the newspaper to unveil a new phase of its development.
Founded in Buea in the South West Region in April 2015 by Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Cham Victor Bama, Municipal Updates has evolved significantly over the past 10 years.
The publication began as a weekly newspaper before being relaunched in 2019. It became a biweekly in 2020 and eventually transitioned into a daily newspaper in 2022.
That progression has seen Municipal Updates establish itself as a notable player in Cameroon’s newspaper industry.
A new chapter
The October 10 celebration is expected to provide the first public glimpse into the newspaper’s plans for the years ahead.
According to Cham Victor Bama, the event will feature the unveiling of several projects and innovations designed to strengthen Municipal Updates and give it a new direction.
Among the projects to be presented is a plan to construct a new head office for the newspaper. New office equipment, a redesigned logo and a new motto will also be unveiled.
Bama said the anniversary program will contain additional announcements and surprises, which will be made public during the event.
The ceremony is expected to bring together guests from different parts of the country and from various sectors of society and the anniversary represents both a celebration of 10 years of journalism and the beginning of another chapter in its growth.
